Big Boss has been coming on Indian channels for quite some time now and the format has got somewhat boring. There are the usual set of people in the house, who quickly fight with each other for all sort of problems, plot against each other, and so on. It is typically seen that the winners of previous Big Boss are not the ones who do all the plotting or the ones who do the most fighting but are more sober and dignified than the others. However, over the previous seasons, the amount of fighting kept on increasing. So what could be a possible change ?
Well, the serial has come up with a new concept this time, building on the concept of a jail being introduced in previous versions, and this time introduced 2 different parts of the house. One is called Jannat (heaven) and the other is called Jahannum (hell) and the 14 participants are divided into these 2 separate parts. Like many other tasks in the house, even the separation of participants into these 2 separate parts was done by the first 2 entrants, Tanish and Andy (this only increases the masala element of the serial since now there is someone to blame for even a person being in the hell or heaven part).
The 2 parts of the house have been split to look somewhat like hell or heaven, with the heaven part being colorful, having the kitchen, and having a roof styled to look like clouds and the like. There is also a pool over there. The hell part is styled to be more like hell, with no kitchen, a pair of big wheels that need to be run by participants using their hands, and even more problems such as the bathrooms not having running water (water needs to be filled from a tap outside and carried in with buckets). So, the participants living in heaven have to cook for both the people living in hell and in heaven since the ones living in hell have no kitchen.
Already skirmishes have happened between the contestants with Arman getting very angry over apparently being blamed for some food getting spilt. But there are also strong linkages, such as the kitchen gas not getting lit unless the participants in hell keep the 2 big wheels in motion, and also people in heaven not getting to lie down or sit unless the wheels are set in motion. The various participants are:
Tanisha Mukherjee – Bollywood Actress

The serial is going through some boring times, although some aspects of the drama in the serial has been settled. When it seemed like the marriage between Najma and Imran could cause tension between Ayyan and Asad, it was resolved and they are back to speaking terms. The marriage preparations are happening fairly fast and everybody wants this marriage to happen fast, although the unresolved mystery in the serial is about the relationship between Imran and Tanveer. Imran is the father of the baby inside Tanveer, and she has been blackmailing him for quite some time over this. Imran is terrified that Tanveer will tell everybody, and she is even there at the time when they are getting engaged; scaring Imran so much that he takes a lot of time to actually put the ring on Namja’s fingers. And Zoya notices something strange about the lady in a burqa and her relationship with Imran, and you know that as time moves on, the relationship between Imran and Tanveer will eventually come out in the open or atleast Zoya will find out something.
The serial also takes the story of women’s rights to some extent through the introduction of a character called Rajveer. Zoya had gone for a show (although Asad was not comfortable) and when the show was over, there was no vehicle, no bus, and her own phone was not reachable (with battery problems). As a result, finally a vehicle came on the path and Zoya got into the vehicle which was being driven by Rajveer. He did not do anything bad to her, but after that, he started pursuing her, even coming outside the house late at night. Finally, he started harassing her and even tried locking her up in a room. The idea was that he thought that since she used to wear jeans and was comfortable talking to him, she was easy and he could do what he want. Finally, Zoya caught him in front of everyone and gave him a tight slap and told him off for thinking this about her.
In the meantime, Ayyan was getting frustrated with the attitude that Humeria was having towards him. She could remember when Ayyan had told her that he did not love her and now told him that she did not want him anywhere near her; and he was unable to tell her that he now loved her a lot. This caused a lot of uncomfortable interactions between them and finally Nikhat took matters into her own hand. She sat down with Humeira and told her about how things have changed, how Ayyan really loved her a lot, and how she needed to understand all this. This changed the attitude of Humeira, and she started wooing Ayyan and finally, with the help of Badi bi, she managed to find herself in a closed storeroom with Ayyan and finally they accepted each other. So now things are fine with all, but things are likely to change drastically, since there are a lot of rumors about a marriage between Ayyan and Zoya.
This is a new serial, which has moved pretty fast given that the serial only started on August 12th 2013 on Zee TV, playing on weekdays in a prime time, 8:30 PM. The serial replaced the serial Hitler Did which had almost vanished in terms of TRP’s. The serial takes the story of two people who almost got married by accident, without any love or attraction between them, and what happens to them as they move ahead. They have totally different social and economic classes and hence a marriage between them is totally strange.
Shivani is an orphan, who lost her parents in a plane crash when she was young and her grandfather Daduji (Alok Nath) took care of her. They are rich and she has been brought up with a lot of care and affection. For a lot of time, her marriage has been planned with Abhimanyu, her childhood sweetheart; and they have been in love with each for a long time. Their marriage date is now close and Dadu is very happy about what is happening and wants the best for her. She has a servant called Raghu, who is devoted to her and the family. Anything that they want done, they ask Raghu and he will try and ensure that it happens.
However, things start getting problematic for Raghu when he overhears a discussion where he learns that not everything is with Abhimanyu as they thought it would be. Actually, Abhimanyu is totally after her riches, including a plot where there was a plan to setup a school and he wanted to change that instead to setup a hotel. He tries to persuade Shivani that there is something wrong, but she does not agree. However, she hears this later herself and is shocked. However, Abhimanyu learns that she now knows the truth and starts to twists things around. He persuades Dadu that things have now changed, that Shivani is under the influence of Raghu, and to reinforce that, sends a message to Raghu from Shivani’s phone to come to her room at night and then catches them there with Dadu.
Dadu of course is shocked at all this and tells Shivani that unless she gets married within 3 days, all the property will go to a trust, with the trust being run by Abhimanyu, so that in effect, he gets all the property. All this scares her brother Jaswant and his wife Mahima who also have their eyes on the property, and they tell her that the condition did not say that she could not get married to anybody else. So they persuade her to get married to Raghu; Raghu is shocked, he is after all going to be married to somebody else and has never thought of Shivani in that way. But he cannot say no to her, and they get married, totally shocking her grandfather who throws them out of the house. However, Dadu does not hand over the property to Abhimanyu and he was trying to persuade Dadu, and in the meantime, Abhimanyu is plotting to ensure that they get kicked out of whichever hotel they are going to.
Abhimanyu is now getting frustrated, and wants to get rid of Raghu, and even persuades Dadu that hiring a killer to get rid of Raghu is something that they should be doing.
Just a couple of episodes back, there was some amount of confusion. Pratap was asked to prove his capabilities in the fight, when the favorite queen of the Maharaja Udai Singh Bhatiyani has managed to persuade the rana to declare that his successor would be based on the competition happening in the guru’s ashram. The Rana Udai Singh is angry that his queen is trying to manipulate him, but he can never really stand against her wishes and finally make the declaration. This puts a lot of pressure on Pratap, since he has now to prove himself all over again. On the other side, the other son, Shakti is getting more and more angry over the assumption that his elder brother Pratap will be the next rana, and wants to prove his own capabilities to everybody. This is also because he has seen the rana scold his mother many times, everytime she has tried to plead the case of Shakti, and he wants to redeem her honor.
He is also more enthused about all this, since the queen Bhatiyani came to him and asked him to win. Her policy of getting her son to power (who is only an infant right now, and much younger to both Pratap and Shakti) is dependent on first ensuring that Pratap is no longer there as a claimant to the throne; so if Shakti becomes the rana successor, then she will deal with him later (she recognizes that Pratap is incredibly powerful).
However, there is a lot of pressure against Pratap. Even though he has managed to defeat the attempts on his life, Shamaz Khan is still after his life, and wants to ensure that he finally finishes off Pratap. Shamaz Khan has changed many details of his face after a painful treatment and was planning a blast at the site of the competition as a result of which Pratap would get killed. During the competition, Pratap is on the verge of losing to Shakti, but manages to overcome him in a couple of bouts and makes his way, blind-folded towards the flag where the trap by Shamaz Khan has been set. His friend Som has detected something suspicious but is unable to make the guards believe him; finally when he sees a lit spark moving towards the powder, he rushes there and pushes Pratap out of the way but the blast kills Som and many of the guards.
What follows is a quest by Pratap to pursue Shamaz Khan for a long chase where he first manages to kill another collaborator of Shamaz Khan, and then chases him through a procession and finally manages to put him down. His Guru reaches there, but wants Pratap to fight for himself, and finally after some hand to hand fighting, Pratap gets the approval of his Guru and kills him. His father also reaches there, and soon after the crowd takes Pratap back home with slogans for him all over. This ensures that everyone in the palace knows that the succession is all but over, with Shakti and queen Bhatiyani both very angry over what has happened, but unable to do anything.
